This pretty fritillary sun catcher has been handmade by Cricklade Glass. A lovely cheering gift to yourself or someone special.
Each fritillary petal starts off as glass powder (see photo in gallery - similar look to talculm powder!) which is shaped and then fired in the kiln before tidying. The delicate fired pieces are then arranged on a base circle of glass which has been pre-fired to add a 'meadow background' . The whole piece is then fired for a second time to securely fuse the arrangement to the base. The fired sun catcher is then hand finished and a green hanging ribbon added.
The sun catchers are c10cm in diameter and c3mm thick. The photos shown here are examples - due to the nature of the process, each sun catcher will be a unique handmade piece of glass art.
